"Ian came to our fire department and did personal training with all of our firefighters for four months. He built functional workouts for us, demonstrated technique, explained different types of workouts and how personal goals fit into each, and spoke to us about nutrition. He is very knowledgeable and has a great deal of training in the area of exercise science in general and functional fitness for firefighters in particular. He is very passionate about health and firefighter performance. I would highly recommend him." - Jason S
"Very professional and competent, provided a workout plan for me that helped me to lose over 85 lbs! Great at tailoring fitness plans to different experience levels and explaining things well to those newer to the world of fitness. I would recommend Ian and Thin Line Fitness to every first responder I know." - Jordan S
"Just wanted to thank you for the program. Had a rescue yesterday hauling a lady out about my size down a pretty good hill in a stokes basket and I held up better than the 'athletic' guys with me." -Sean F "With your workouts I absolutely crushed my most recent physical for the Lexington County Fire Service. I honestly can't thank you enough for the workouts you provided and the encouragement along the way. It really means a lot." -Brian P
"Ian is very knowledgeable and encouraging. He came up with fun and impactful workouts. It was also beneficial having someone train you that knows and does the job." - Matt A
"Ian is a subject matter expert who provides my department with relevant exercises, strengthening and conditioning skills that directly relate to the demanding tasks we perform as firefighters. His knowledge of nutrition and development of customized nutrition plans is also much appreciated. I love the fact that extensive gym equipment is not required, and most of the strengthening exercises use body weight as the resistance. I was pleasantly surprised by how much we could do with a simple set of sandbags, which allowed both women and men of varying abilities to participate safely. Ian’s affordable program scales with your needs and schedule, you will not be disappointed." -Jason W
"Ian’s workouts never disappoint! Very professional and definitely knows how to motivate you. He took the time to break down certain dietary advice for me as well as create a training plan." - Mike N
"The knowledge and workout plans they have definitely help prepare you physically for being a first responder not to mention the workouts are fun and leave you feeling satisfied afterward." - Firat S
"Useful and functional workouts that he is able to scale to any fitness level. Knowledgeable about all aspects of fitness and nutrition." - Jordan K
"Professional and impactful. since starting this program three weeks ago I have built strength, endurance and confidence that I forgot I had. **update** now after 9 weeks of training I feel confident that I can do anything that I put my mind to in regards to fitness. I remind myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and my body will get there, I just need to be patient." - Brian B
"Chief Palmer garners respect from recruits without intimidation. He has an understanding of proper movement patterns. The utilization of sandbags lends itself to the task and when coached properly reduces injury. Recruits feel like they accomplished something after his workouts and do not go to sleep dreading getting out of bed to be berated, made fun of for things they cannot change, or performing age old movement patterns that can be dangerous when instructed poorly. Palmer instructs recruits on stretching and actually offers the proper amount of time for each stretch. Furthermore, Palmer’s style of pushing recruits allows them to focus on the task at hand push themselves because they want to not because they are intimidated."
"His Pt/Fitness sessions work you intensely, yet give you a sense of extreme team building and enjoyment. Leaving pt this morning we felt motivated for the day after some friendly competition, and overall a great workout. 10/10."
"Today we had only Chief Palmer running PT and I noticed a big difference. We started with a good stretch and warm-up, followed by sprints up the hill. Being honest, it sounded terrible to start but Chief Palmer motivated us and allowed us to have a good time with the activity which in turn boosted moral SIGNIFICANTLY among the recruits. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely an ass kicker of a workout but I felt good when we were done plus I did not feel like an inmate that had done something wrong and was being punished. It was nice to see the “losing” battalion be so team-oriented and motivated afterwards to join in on the other battalions “punishment” of shoulder presses with sandbags. I strongly recommend bringing Chief Palmer in more often."
